For many of our guests, having tea at The White Heron is their first experience having tea in a formal tea room setting. Often times they have questions about the tea service or what to expect when visiting our tea room.
Below are some of the most frequently asked questions about tea time.
The White Heron has tea times Wednesday through Saturday at 12 pm and 2 pm and Sunday at 12 pm. Due to the desire to lessen distractions during your tea time, we only seat parties at these specific times.
Our 12 pm seating is from 12 pm to 1:30 pm. Our 2 pm seating is from 2 pm to 3:30 pm.
*PLEASE NOTE: Your entire party must be present before you are seated in the tea room. WE DO NOT SEAT PARTIAL PARTIES.
Our main tearoom is limited to 22 guests at one time. This is our capacity limit for private functions such as showers or large groups. We will not exceed this capacity under any circumstance.
We do not guarantee that your group will be the only group in the tearoom, unless your group is guaranteeing 22 guests or more. With groups less than 20, other tables may be in the main tearoom with you.
Our total capacity for our entire tearoom facility is 34 guests.
Yes! We love welcoming groups at The White Heron.
PLEASE NOTE: We encourage groups to arrive 10-15 minutes prior to your scheduled teatime. We do not seat any party until the entire party has arrived.
If a party changes size and we are not notified prior to arrival (less people show up), the group will still be responsible for paying for the missing guests and we will be happy to pack up any extra afternoon teas to go.

The White Heron Tea & Gifts is a small commercial kitchen establishment regulated by the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulations - Hotels and Restaurants. Because we have a commercial kitchen, we do not allow any food prepared offsite to be brought into our restaurant, whether it was prepared in a commercial kitchen or not.
The White Heron Tea & Gifts also has a beer and wine license granted from the State of Florida. Therefore, we cannot allow beer, wine, or any other beverages to be brought into our establishment.
Our tearoom is designed with an adult audience in mind, with linen and China, and is not conducive to having small children. We encourage children, age 5 and up, to attend teatime with an adult, with the understanding that they must remain seated at their table for the duration of their teatime. Children who are up and moving around or disrupting other guests will be asked to leave the tearoom.
We DO NOT allow strollers, highchairs, infants, or children under the age of 5. We reserve the right to ask for proof of age of a child.
We encourage children to attend one of our events geared toward them, such as one of our princess teas.
No, we do not host children's birthday parties. We are more than happy to host a group of young ladies and gentlemen and their moms and dads for a formal tea seating, however, due to previous experiences, our tea room has opted to not host children's birthday parties at this time. The formality of our tea room is not conducive to a traditional birthday party experience.
The White Heron Tea & Gifts understands the needs of our guests and does everything it can to accommodate their needs when visiting our establishment. That being said, The White Heron Tea & Gifts (KB Hackman, Inc) has the following policy in regards to Service Animals.
Florida's service animal law applies to animals that are trained to do work or perform tasks for someone with a physical, mental, psychiatric, sensory, or intellectual disability. The ADA defines a service animal as a dog that is individually trained to perform tasks or do work for the benefit of a person with a disability.
Neither law covers pets or "emotional support animals", animals that provide a sense of safety, companionship, and comfort to those with psychiatric or emotional disabilities or conditions. Under the ADA and Florida law, owners of public accommodations, including restaurants and retail establishments, are not required to allow emotional support animals or pets into their establishments, only service animals.
It is the policy of The White Heron Tea & Gifts to follow the law according to the ADA and the state of Florida. Therefore, we recognize trained service dogs and welcome them into our establishment. Currently, "emotional support animals" or other animals of any kind are not permitted in our establishment.
